MICHAEL WILSON
Consultant | Dispute Resolution and LitigationMichael has been with Elliott Duffy Garrett for over 40 years, and is a former Managing Partner of the Firm. He was admitted as a solicitor in Northern Ireland in 1978, was authorised to act as a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in 1993, and is an accredited Mediator.
Michael is a former President of the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal and is currently the Legal Chair of the Statutory Hearings Committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland. He is retained as the Legal Assessor to the Northern Ireland Ombudsman, advising her in her capacity as the NI Local Government Commissioner for Standards.
Michael acts as the Protector (Special Trustee) of two charitable trusts; the Building Change Trust and The Gallaher Trust overseeing the governance and operations of both charities.
Currently Michael is a Governor of Assumption Grammar School, Ballynahinch and St Malachy’s College, Belfast. He is also a non-executive Director of JW Kane Precision Engineering Limited and of BDA (Property Projects) Limited.
In addition to these specific interests, Michael advises personal, business and charity clients on a broad range of challenges and strategic opportunities. He has been to the forefront of change in social housing working with the largest housing association in Northern Ireland in the development of a novel Group structure basis for its operations
